Email Delivery Delays

November 28th, 2011

We are aware of a current problem with delivery of emails being delayed, this is due to an issue with the iCritical email platform that is used for anti-spam and anti-virus scanning, rather than any Rockford systems or equipment.

This is also related to a problem with a high number of emails being classified as spam that shouldn’t be.

iCritical software developers are currently looking at the problem and we hope to have it resolved soon. Any updates we recieve on this issue will be posted here.

Customers are advised to transfer mission critical information via phone or other means, rather than rely on email for the time being.

Rockford apologises for any inconvenience this issue causes.

Core Switch Crash, Telford DC

October 23rd, 2011

This afternoon arounf 12:20 we lost connection to the primary core Cisco Catalyst switch in the comms room that provides data services to computer room 1 and 2 at telford.  Upon manual connection to the management the switch appeard to have crashed and was unresponsive.  Following a reboot service returned and the switch has passed all tests ok.  This switch will be scheduled for replacement ASAP and we will continue to monitor this closely until this time.  This outage would have affected all customers without an HSRP feed to their hosted equipment.  Our phone system runs off this switch too which resulted in loss of phone service. This will too be addressed.

We have identified an issue with a firewall protecting some of our hosted services, including websites, email, and DNS, and the firewall needs restarting to resolve it.

This will take place at 16:30 today, and is expected to result in about 3 minutes of service unavailabilty.

Clarification: This restart will affect Rockford provided email, DNS cache and website services, but it will not affect internet connectivity for our datacenters, customer hosted equipment, or core networking.

Packet Loss at Rockford DC, Telford (Now Rectified)

May 9th, 2011

During the last 45 minutes we have been experiencing packet loss on between some customer hosted systems and the internet.  This was due to a customer having a very high number of remote connections into their hosted systems and downloading large amounts of data which was causing the network segment they are on to become saturated.  This is being rectified by throttling this connection.  We will be moving the connections as soon as we can schedule this to remove the possibility of of this reoccurring.  Apologies for the inconvenience this has caused some customers.

Connectivity Upgrade at Rockford Telford

April 11th, 2011

On Thursday 14th April from 1600 hrs will be installing equipment to terminate the new 1Gbps circuits into the Data Centre in Telford.  No switchover to these circuits will be done at this stage.  That will be carried out within the next couple of weeks, notice will be given, but we anticipate no down time due to the redundant nature of the connections we currently have in place and the switchover will be carried out outside of normal business hours.  This is just to advise customers of maintenance taking place within the comms room at this time.
